Healthcare.gov is the official health insurance marketplace in the United States. It was created as a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which was signed into law in 2010. The website serves as a platform for individuals and small businesses to shop for and compare health insurance plans, enroll in coverage, and find out if they qualify for financial assistance to help pay for their insurance premiums.
Healthcare.gov also provides information on health care reform, health insurance options, and how to get help with enrollment. The website is managed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
